Edit Anna Lukacs: Das zunehmende Wissen Christi in der Schriftauslegung von Heinrich Totting von Oyta und Michael Suchenschatz
This paper examines the question of Christ’s growing human knowledge in the Psalm commentary of Henry Totting of Oyta († 1397) and the commentary on the Gospel of Luke by Michael Suchenschatz († 1414), both lecturing as Professors at the University of Vienna. The two commentaries rely on an exceptionally wide range of authorities quoted, among which Thomas Aquinas plays a prominent role. The commentary of Michael Suchenschatz, although supporting and confirming the interpretation and doctrine of Henry of Oyta, surprises by his richer dossier. Besides the sources of Oyta, Suchenschatz introduces especially the theses of Conrad of Ebrach O.Cist. that reflect a disputation on Christ’s intuitive knowledge Ebrach held in Prague in 1381. This first study ever of Suchenschatz’ theology is accompanied by an edition of his lecture on Luke 2,40.
